Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Pancasila values through character education embedded in Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum, particularly via the "Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila" (P5) initiative. Utilising a qualitative descriptive approach, the research draws on interviews with secondary school students to understand their experiences and perceptions. Findings indicate that while P5 fosters critical skills such as creativity, collaboration, and independent learning, challenges persist in its practical execution. These include inconsistencies in teacher guidance, unequal student engagement, and limited integration of certain Pancasila principles, particularly spiritual values. Nonetheless, the programme demonstrates potential in enhancing students' non-academic competencies and civic awareness. The study concludes that systemic improvements and a more holistic pedagogical strategy are needed to fully realise the character-building goals of the Merdeka Curriculum.
