The inaugural edition of the Journal of Urban Development in Education (JUDE), Volume 1 Number 1 (2025), presents a range of contemporary studies focusing on educational dynamics within the context of urban or modern development. The articles featured in this issue explore key themes such as peer and romantic relationship patterns among elementary school children, structured cognitive-behavioral interventions to address psychological issues, family financial literacy through nonformal education, and the reinforcement of national values through character education in the Merdeka Curriculum. This issue also highlights the importance of children’s social resilience in urban environments, emphasizing the role of alternative educational strategies in supporting their growth and protection. The contributing authors come from a diverse set of institutions, including Universitas Jambi, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Islam Bandung, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, and Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Darul Falah.

This publication reflects JUDE’s commitment to promoting adaptive, context-sensitive educational discourse grounded in character development and social well-being within urban settings.

Journal of Urban Development in Education is a peer-reviewed open-access journal managed by Nalatama Research Center that serves as a platform for scholarly dialogue and dissemination of educational research and analysis. The scope of Journal of Urban Development in Education includes a wide range of educational topics in urban, such as curriculum and instruction, learning assessment, educational policy, digital and inclusive education, teacher professional development, early childhood to higher education, educational psychology, and classroom-based action research. It welcomes manuscripts that apply rigorous scientific methods and offer new insights or solutions to current educational challenges.

The journal accepts original empirical research articles, theoretical papers, and literature reviews that align with its focus areas. All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and free from plagiarism. Submissions are processed through the Open Journal System (OJS) and must adhere to the journal’s author guidelines and formatting requirements. Each submission undergoes a double-blind peer review by experts in relevant educational fields.
