Post Publication Discussion

Scientific discussion continues after publication. JACOBS welcomes scholarly debate on its published articles and provides clear channels for readers to raise questions, critiques, and concerns.

Letters to the Editor and Commentaries

  • Readers may submit a letter or commentary on an article published in JACOBS within 12 months of its publication.
  • Letters must not exceed 1,000 words and 10 references, and must address the scientific content of the article rather than its authors.
  • Letters are submitted through OJS under the Letter to the Editor section, or by email to journal.nalatama@gmail.com.
  • The editor evaluates each letter and may send it for peer review. Accepted letters are published with a DOI.
  • The authors of the original article are invited to write a reply, which is published together with the letter whenever possible.

Informal Comments and Questions

Readers who have questions about a published article may contact the corresponding author directly, using the email address printed on the article, or write to the editorial office. The journal also monitors discussions about its articles on post-publication review platforms such as PubPeer and on academic and social networks.

Concerns About Validity or Integrity

Comments that raise serious questions about the validity of the data, possible errors, or ethical issues are not treated as ordinary debate. They are assessed by the Editor-in-Chief under the Correction and Retraction policy or the Allegation of Research Misconduct procedure, as appropriate.

Data and Material Requests

Authors are expected to respond to reasonable requests for data, analysis code, instruments, or intervention materials, in line with the data availability statement in their article and any restrictions needed to protect participants.

Standards of Discussion

All contributions must be civil, evidence-based, and relevant. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, and disclosure of confidential information are not accepted.
